In today’s society, it’s common to hear about celebrities being criticized for their appearance. Unfortunately, actress Selena Gomez recently became the target of such scrutiny when she was criticized for her weight gain.
However, what many people fail to realize is that Selena has lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease.
Lupus is a disease that affects millions of people worldwide, and it can have a significant impact on a person’s physical and mental health.
The medications used to treat lupus can also cause weight gain, which is beyond the patient’s control.
To address her critics, Selena went live on Tik Tok to speak about the matter.
“When I’m taking it, I tend to hold a lot of water weight, and that happens very normally. When I’m off of it, I tend to kind of lose weight,”Selena Gomez
Selena used her platform to educate her audience on the matter.
“I’m not a model, never will be. And I think they’re awesome, mind you. I’m just definitely not that,”
Selena Goes on to say
“I would rather be healthy and take care of myself. My medications are important, and I believe that they’re what helps me.”
She promoted kindness and understanding toward all people.
“I just wanted to tell you I love you guys, and thanks for supporting me and understanding. And if not, go away, ’cause honestly I don’t believe in shaming people”.
To anyone reading this, don’t be so quick to judge people. You never know what someone is going through in life. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
