If you happened to grow up during the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, or early 80’s you’re going to love today’s video. Properly titled “I can’t believe we made it”, the video sends a powerful message about the way childhood has changed in America.

Back in the day, we used to let kids make mistakes, experience failure, and exposed them to the harshness of reality. Today’s children are a completely different story. The video makes the case that the current generation of kids is being overly protected.

Previous generations of kids didn’t have silly things like medals for participation. They learned the hard way that you can’t always win in life. Sometimes you don’t make the team, pass a class, or succeed in an endeavor. These kids learned to own up their failures and it made them into better people.

Today’s kids are raised with the mindset that everyone is a winner. When they fail a class, the parent’s don’t punish the kids. They blame the teacher for their child’s shortcomings.

The video goes into several other examples about this problem. It’s far more entertaining to watch than it is to read about it. Check it out below.
