15 Years ago, Queen Elizabeth broke the rules in order to support Americans after 9/11.

Today marks the 15th year anniversary of the September 11 attacks. 2,997 People lost their lives that day and over 6000 people experienced some form of injury. It was the largest attack on U.S. soil since the Oklahoma city bombings.

September 11 is a day that most Americans can recall like it happened yesterday. Most people can remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when the attacks happened. It was a time filled with fear, tears, and a whole lot of confusion.

During that time, many countries also paid their respects to the United States. England, in particular, stood out in the way they did this. Queen Elizabeth actually ordered the Queen’s Guard to break daily protocol and pay tribute to the United States.

While performing the “changing of the guard” ceremony, the guards played the stars spangled banner. It was so beautifully done that several onlookers couldn’t help but cry.  Take a look below to see amazing moment.
