2 herds of elephants traveled 12 hours to attend vigil for the man who saved them.
In 1999, Lawrence Anthony, known as “The Elephant Whisperer”, rescued and rehabilitated a group of wild elephants in KwaZulu-Natal, a province in South Africa.
At the time, they were considered violent elephants that were dangerous to the locals. The local government even planned to kill them.
That was when Anthony stepped in to save them. He was known for his amazing ability to heal traumatized elephants.
On March 2nd, 2012, Anthony passed away due to a heart attack.
Just shortly after his death, two herds of elephants, which were the ones that he rescued, arrived at his compound.
They had traveled more than 12 hours to reach his house.
